if i didnt get rid of everything, all my settings i fixed from the malicious activity was changed back without my approval and the files i deleted were restored. i had to manually hunt down and get rid of any residue of the program i could find. i have both windows defender and malware bytes both detected the program as malicious and could not get rid of it. my google chrome was being injected with ads like mad causing severe slow down. i never installed it personally on my own but once i got it, my web settings changed, my home page was changed to some kind of russia page. maybe there is a virus out there disguised as chromium. but i also see forums of it being malicious. thanks for the help if u did help but if u are trying to ♥♥♥♥ up my game files i will post another comment i have seen mixed reviews of chromium being good, being better etc. Chromium itself is a completely legitimate program" so i am going to scan it with windows defender and run steam to see if the files are legit. In your case it was installed on your PC an injected with malicious code. It was designed to be open source, meaning you can tweak it in all sorts of ways. But it does say here "The Chromium browser is actually the “alpha” version of modern Chrome. Wikipedia" so im guessing this is what garrys mod uses to download its mods. and have this folder in my game files.and it says here acoriding to wikipedia "Chromium is an open-source Web browser project started by Google, to provide the source code for the proprietary Google Chrome browser. and i only have 3 mods from the steam workshop. as you can see i have not much hours played. Once the migration completes, existing Monorail issue links will redirect to the migrated issues in the new issue tracker. While there will be differences, we are working to make the migration straightforward. In due course, we will share additional resources, including a walkthrough of the new issue tracker, highlighting key features.

We are targeting January 2024 for Chromium’s migration, and will share milestones and timing updates throughout the coming months. Existing transparency levels to bugs will be maintained.

Chromium will join other open source projects (Git, Gerrit) on this tooling.

This tooling change will provide a feature-rich and well-supported issue tracker for Chromium’s ecosystem. We will migrate all Chromium issues, including issue history and stars, from Monorail to a different tool: Chromium Issue Tracker, powered by the Google Issue Tracker. The Google team is targeting January 2024 for migration-this post explains the details. Chromium is moving to a different issue tracker to provide a well-supported user experience for the long term.
